PLANNED BREEDINGS: POSSIBLE NEXT LITTER: APRIL 26, 2008

We have just bred our English Import female, Marnee. CH. MISTLETHWAIT MARNEE an American champion. However, it is too soon to know if she is going to have puppies.

This is an experimental type of breeding for us and we cannot predict what or how she will produce. She is sweet, large and very happy. And while I am positive that her pups will make wonderful family companions, I am not familiar with her family history other than the impressive photos of her sire and dam.

My plans are to "wait and see" how these pups develop. WE BRED HER TO OUR BEAUTIFUL SHERMAN WHO IS THE TOP SHOW MASTIFF IN THE HISTORY OF THE BREED. But, as I say, I cannot predict how she will produce even being bred to our Sherman. Therefore, my plan is to sell each pup on an AKC limited registration at full price pending the maturity of the these pups and the outcome of their individual health testing.

This type of sale would affect those families who are looking to show their pups. Families interested in a Mastiff puppy as a companion only should not be affected. However, we will reserve the right to reevaluate each pup as he or she matures in order to decide whether or not each one is worthy of being shown. If we decide that a particular puppy is show quality, we will upgrade the registration of said pup to FULL REGISTATION and make arrangements to show him or her ourselves or ask the individual families to commit to having him or her shown. However, we will not be able to make this evaluation until the pup is at least 6 months old. For others, we may need to wait until they are almost 18 months old. Normally, this would affect the males but the females may also mature slowly as the mother did.

As far as the ability to breed a female or stud a male from this litter, that would depend entirely on the outcome of their health testing. This is something which can be determined at the age of two years. If they do not pass these health tests, they will not be eligible to be bred or used at stud.

If this is not something you are interested in, may I suggest you wait for our next breeding.

However, if you think you would be interested in this type of situation, please take the time to complete one of our SOUTHPORT PUPPY APPLICATIONS WHICH YOU WILL FIND UNDER "THE PLANNED BREEDING/FUTURE LITTER SECTION OF OUR WEBSITE.

Thank you for your interest in one of our Southport Puppies.

SOUTHPORT PUPPY PRICES:
The prices of our litters depend on the parents of the pups and whether or not it is a repeat breeding.  The range is $2,500.00 - $1,800.00.

A puppy sired by Pete, Otis, Isaac or Willie would be the result of frozen semen and therefore would be higher.

The price for a pet quality puppy would be much less, approximately $1,250.00 and sold on an AKC Limited Registration.

HEALTH TESTING:
We perform four tests on our Mastiffs, CERF, OFA, OFEL and the new discovery, PRA DNA Testing through OptiGen.

FLYING/SHIPPING PUPPIES:
If you live outside of California and intend to fly your puppy home, the following would apply to you:

I DO NOT SHIP PUPPIES.

New Puppy owners are required to fly out personally in order to take your puppy home.  The puppy will travel IN THE PLANE NEXT TO YOUR SEAT OR AT YOUR FEET.  NOT IN CARGO.  We recommend you purchase a large Sherpa bag for puppy to travel home in; they are airline approved and are required for in flight travel.

So if it is your intention to purchase a SOUTHPORT PUPPY you will need to make arrangements to personally fly or drive out to Southern California.

I realize shipping puppies cargo can be done but the heartache to me is just not worth it.  In addition, it has become harder and harder to find nonstop direct flights.

QUESTIONS I HAVE FOR YOU:

Your detailed answers to the following questions would best help me to help you find the right puppy:

Name:

 Full Address:

Phone Numbers:

Email:

Please remember, I DO NOT SHIP MY PUPS.  YOU MUST DRIVE OR FLY OUT TO PICK ONE UP PERSONALLY.  I LIVE IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA AND WE HAVE THREE AIRPORTS TO CHOOSE FROM; LAX, SDX AND ONTARIO.

ARE YOU ABLE TO DRIVE OR FLY OUT TO PICK UP A PUPPY?

How soon are you looking to add a Mastiff to your family?

Do you intend for this puppy to be a housedog or an outside dog?

Where will the puppy sleep at night?

Why do you want a Mastiff?

Do you want a puppy to Show?

If you do plan to show this puppy; do you intend to hire a professional handler or will you show him/her yourself?

If you intend to show this puppy yourself, what is your show experience?  Have you ever finished a dog?

Do you want to purchase a PET QUALITY puppy and not pay full price?  If so, please indicate “I want Pet Quality only” and I will keep that in mind, should I have a puppy I want to sell as a pet only.

(A pet quality puppy would have something that makes the breeder uncomfortable selling him or her for full price promising the buyer a SHOW PROSPECT puppy.  For example, Mastiffs are short haired dogs, if a puppy of mine had a heavier coat, I would prefer to sell him on an AKC Limited Registration for a pet price.  The AKC does register the Mastiff but the breeder has limited him or her; meaning this puppy cannot be shown, nor can it be bred.)

Is this puppy to be your only dog?  If not, what dogs do you currently own?

Tell me about the dogs you have previously owned.  What breed?  What age were they when you acquired them and what became of them?

Please describe the family members of your household.  Are you a single person or a couple?  Do you have children?  If so, what are the ages of your children?

Are you a homeowner or do you rent?  If you rent, do you have an agreement IN WRITING with your landlord that you are able to have such a large dog?

Do you have a safe/well manicured area in your yard for the puppy to play and exercise?  Is it securely gated and fenced?

Would you be willing to scan and send pictures of your yard and specifically your fencing and gates?

What type of vehicle do you drive?  Can it easily transport an adult Mastiff.  Is the dog able to enter and exit easily or does he have to leap and jump to enter and then jump out to exit? Would you be willing to purchase a dog ramp, if necessary?

IF YOU LIVE LOCALLY, are you interested solely in a puppy or would you be interested in an adult IF one should become available?

Thank you for your interest in our "Southport" family.

*PAST LITTERS
Litters we have produced from 2002 through 2006

One Litter in 2002

We had the one litter in 2002 which were born April 9, 02. We bred our Isaac to Litty. Of those pups, our pick male, Sherman, went Winners Dog and Best of Winners at our MCOA National Specialty in May 2003. He returned the following year to our National to go BEST OF BREED on April 18, 2004.

2004 NUMBER ONE MASTIFF ALL SYSTEMS in the USA and one of America's Top Twenty Working Dogs.

2005 NUMBER ONE MASTIFF ALL SYSTEMS in the USA and the Number Four WORKING DOG of America's Top Twenty Working Dogs.

In 2006, he is once again ranked the Number One Mastiff in the USA and currently the Number Three Working Dog of America's Top Twenty Working Dogs.

Currently he has the Twenty-Seven (27) all breed BESTS IN SHOW and has won over 100 Working Groups.

His sister, Zoe finished her championship in 2003 and their brother, Brew finished his Championship over the big AKC National Championship Invitational show weekend at Long Beach in early December 2003. The fourth puppy, Stormy was not shown. Their mother, Ch. Southports Northern Lights was awarded MCOA TOP PRODUCING BROOD BITCH FOR 2003.

One litter in 2003-January 2003 Litter:

We had the one litter in 2003 which arrived January 29, 03. We bred Annie (Double Pete Granddaughter) to "Deppen" BISS Ch. Southports Deeper Impact who is the son of BISS Ch. Regal Hills Sudden Impact "Willie." Willie is a former Number One Mastiff in the USA 1999 & 2000 and two time Mastiff Club of America National Specialty Winner. Deppen, his son was ranked as one of the top Mastiffs in the USA for 2003 and was the Best of Breed Winner at the Redwood Empire Mastiff Specialty 2003.

We kept a female from this litter we call "Honey." Her sister, Xena began to show on a regular basis as a puppy in a few Northern & Southern California shows and began to win from the puppy class, even taking Best of Breed over Specials!

Xena and Honey went Winners Bitch and Reserve Winners Bitch at the Kennel Club in Palm Springs show Jan. 3, 2004 from the 9-12 month puppy class. They won the BREEDERS CUP at the 2004 MCOA National Specialty in Tucson in April. Honey went Winners Bitch three of the four days at the Angles Crest/Beverly Hills shows in June when we began to showing her on a regular basis.

Both Xena and Honey are now AKC Champions!

We began to show their brother Elvis the weekend of October 30 and 31 and he went WINNERS DOG AND BEST OF WINNERS in his dog show debut! He has continued his winning ways and will be shown occasionally in 2005.

CO-bred Litter in 2003

We co-bred a litter born May 13, 2003. We bred Litty, Ch. Southports Northern Lights using the FROZEN SEMEN of our wonderful Pete (Ch. Southports Prime Time). Unfortunately, we later learned through DNA Testing that our beloved Pete was NOT THE SIRE. Litty had three pups in this litter. We own two, Adam and Eve. Adam was major pointed from the 6-9 Month Puppy Dog Class and he took his second major from the 9-12 Month Class on March 1, 2004. Adam won his class at the Mastiff National in April and was also judged the BEST JUNIOR IN FUTURITY. In June Adam took his third major and on July 3 and 4 Adam finished his Championship by taking back to back 4 point Majors at the SUMMERFEST CLUSTER.

Eve took her first points at the shows in Chula Vista June 13 and 14, 04. Eve is now being handled by our 14 year old daughter, Dani. They are "learning" the show ring together. Dani put both majors on Eve in 2005 and she finished early in 2006.

Co-Bred 2004 Litter:

OTIS Puppies Arrive 9-20-04 3 fawn males, 5 fawn females:

Ch. Southports Avila's Princess Zoe whelped a litter sired by BIS, BISS Ch. Ridgewoods Otis on September 20, 2004. Zoe is co-owned by us with Johnny and Jennifer Avila of Merced, CA. Zoe is the sister to our Sherman, the current Number #1 Mastiff in the USA. Otis is a former number #1 Mastiff in the USA in 1995 and 1996. Otis was also in the Top Twenty Working Dogs. This litter was the result of a frozen semen breeding as Otis passed away October 1, 2000. These pups have all gone on to their shows and some will be shown. We kept two pups from this litter, a male we named Odin and a female we named Olivia! Odin finished his championship in 2005.

Two litters bred in 2005

Ch. Southports Sweet Impact "Honey" was bred to our Sherman and whelped a litter on August 8, 2005. Of these pups, we kept two, Grant and Char. Both achieved their majors beginning in the Puppy Classes. Char finished her championship in October 2006.
A third littermate, ___________ is also being shown and currently has both of his majors.

Ch. Southports Once Upon A Time "Eve" was bred using the Frozen Semen of our Isaac and whelped a litter on August 16, 2005. Of these pups, we kept two, Jack and Isis. They will be shown in 2007.

One litter in 2006:

We bred Ch. Southports Sweet Impact to an outside stud dog, Ch. Diesel of Safe Haven. She presented us with a nice litter on October 9, 2006. They are only four weeks old as of this writing.
